Bauder Extreme

OTBO_MainSpeaking with Josh Bauder of Bauder Extreme, The Catshack Reports gets an inside look at the Bauder Empire and some of the product lines….c’est bon!!!

The Catshack Reports: Josh as far as yourself, please discuss your background in paintball to include when you first started and the circumstances surrounding how you first started playing the game

OTBOGirl4Josh: I started playing paintball in 2003 with one of my really good friends Collier Miers, who is now the captain of the University of Texas paintball team. We had just heard about the sport of paintball and wanted to go find out what all the hype was. So we went out with our 100 dollar guns and had the best time of our lives.

The Catshack Reports: Over the years which teams have you played with…do you still play?…highlights of your experiences in paintball?

Josh: I have never played on a team. Yes I still play when I get the chance to in fact myself and some fellow paintball industry members might be starting a scenario paintball team that plays with the mentality of speedball players (my favorite style of paintball). So far the highlights in paintball for myself and Bauder Extreme would have to be just how receptive the paintball community has been to myself and my company.

The Catshack Reports: When was Bauder Extreme Design first established as a company and why?…were there circumstances that showed a niche youOTBOTshirt1 could fill in the community?

Josh: Bauder Extreme Design was originally founded in February of 2009 to be the design company for the rest of the Bauder Extreme family. Since then it has become one of the bigger companies in the Bauder Extreme family of companies. At first I actually wasn’t intending on doing anything in paintball. Then I was asked to come photograph a friend playing out at Pev’s Paintball in Aldie, Virginia (best Paintball field in the US) where DC Arsenal just so happened to be practicing at the time. So after photographing that, I discovered that paintball photography was really appealing to me so I went on to photograph the USPL DC event. Since that time I have now done both the World Cup in Polk City, Florida and the USPL Las Vegas Event.

The Catshack Reports: What sets Bauder Extreme apart from other companies in the same business?

OTBOShirt4Josh: I feel like the things that set Bauder Extreme Design apart from other companies is that even though we are a relatively new company, we are a very passionate and motivated company. When I first founded Bauder Extreme Design my goal was to build the best design company around. Since we were originally founded we have been growing at a pretty insane speed due to all the support from the paintball community. The thing that I think sets us apart the most from other companies is that we are determined to make our products with the player in mind. In fact most of our designs are not put into production until they are reviewed by various paintball players to make sure that they are something they like.

The Catshack Reports: Where is Bauder Extreme based out of….and to date what would you consider to be your target market?

Josh: We are based out of Lorton, Virginia at the moment. Our target market would be paintballers but that really is such a wide market that it encompasses so many other markets as well. The thing about paintball is that it doesn’t have a set age range or a set income.

The Catshack Reports:  Josh, please take a moment and discuss your product lines and the support you have received from the paintball community.

Josh: Right now Bauder Extreme Design doesn’t have a very big product line as IMG_0315it does the designs for our clothing company “Off the Break Outfitters” which we will discuss in the next question. One of the things that Bauder Extreme Design is doing is a private label gun that will be coming out in early 2010 we will release more details on that closer to the release time but we will say that it will be the most Extreme private label gun on the market with lots of custom parts from various manufacturers. The support that we have received from the paintball community has been huge. So many teams have helped me out such as Dynasty, Mutiny, XSV, Rockstar, Farside Kids, and several others. The manufacturers of the paintball industry have also been a huge help to Bauder Extreme Design. We wouldn’t be where we are now without the support from Rockstar Energy Drinks, Pinokio Hoppers, JT Sports, Ninja Paintball, Planet Eclipse, Valken, Animal Paintball, Custom Products, and Virtue. Everyone of these companies have been monumental in the growth of Bauder Extreme Design.

The Catshack Reports: Aside from Bauder Extreme, what is the other companies you are referring to?

Josh: Well Bauder Extreme is the name for our parent company because right IMG_0317now there are a total of 4 subsidiary companies under Bauder Extreme. Two of them are active in the Paintball industry. Bauder Extreme Design and Off the Break Outfitters. Off the Break Outfitters is our newest edition to the Bauder Extreme family. Off the Break Outfitters is going to become a very big player in the Paintball Industry in the years to come. Right now we are finishing up our clothing line and have just ordered the first sets of men’s shirts which should be getting here within the next week or two. We are also working on a fully custom clothing line for the women of paintball. To date there simply isn’t a big enough selection of women’s clothing in paintball, so we are determined to give them their own selection of clothing to wear.

The Catshack Reports: Could you share some new product information and  what is the direction you are heading in years to come according to your business plan?

Josh: Well, we are partnering with several big name paintball companies to do some Bauder Extreme Design private label products such as barrels, boards, hoppers, ball detents and much more. Most of those parts will first be on the market as part of the Bauder Extreme Design private label marker. The future plans for the Bauder Extreme family of companies are to further the name of the company while trying to help bring paintball more out into the mainstream. We will be going to all of the PSP, USPL, and Millennium Series tournaments next year to photograph some very well known teams. We are also likely to be a vendor at both end of the year events for the PSP and USPL so you can come buy our products from the new clothing line on site.

The Catshack Reports is pleased to present Bauder Extreme courtesy of Josh Bauder. As well like The Catshack Reports, Josh mentions his support for young up and coming teams like the Max’d Kidz who he personally photographed at the Vegas USPL 2009 event as well as designed their team logo for them.

Thanks Josh!

Nice review and killer designs. Definetly fresh and not the usual carbon copy crap that gets put out by a lot of companies.

    Keep up the good work
