Another notable team stopped by the Catshack today to say hello and introduce themselves…ladies and gentlemen I give you…Team Insanity

l_cf4daf9626f84b10a7ea16aa75a3d60eThe team came together around the middle of 2008. Cliff Luther and another player met so he could purchase a pair of knee pads. They spoke at length about paintball and how each of them were wanting to start a team. Next thing you know they had a meeting, discussed everything, came up with a name and voila Insanity was born as a 3 man crew.

Since their beginnings they have entered a couple local 3 man tournaments finishing 6th and 4th respectfully which isn’t bad for only being together for such a short time. NPPL San Diego 08 was definitely the highlight of their year. For them only being together a mere half a year and going to a grand event was a serious deal to the team in its entirety. They entered 5man division 4 and finished 9th out of 21 teams. It was their first event and a test as a “true” team. They also established a real dynamic off the field spending as much time with each other as possible, now they are brothers first and l_88722583708a4ed9adae07b983b21311foremost.

As Cliff explains “2003 was a tough year for us“, they had dropped a player, picked one up, and were getting ready for Huntington Beach. Then the nosedive in the economy came a little sooner than they had anticipated and they simply couldnt make it to Huntington. Following this setback they lost the new player they had picked up, another member was moving to Seattle and the rest of them were pretty tight financially. Needless to say, this wasn’t their greatest year.

Each guy on the team has his personal preference on what they feel is a good product. From 2008-2009 we used MacDev’s Droid and Cyborg combination. For 2010, the team decided to change it up a little bit and go with the Ego10 platform.

Team Insanity are:

Cliff Luther – Captain
Adam Tavolacci – Co-Captain
Brian Goyen
Ryan Taylor
Rodney Manandik
Tom Milroy
Ken Wilson

The team is sponsored by several notable companies including Planet Eclipse, NXe, Sly Equipment, Mountain View Paintball, LXVI Designs, Budez.com, GreenRendition.com, Paintball Photography, Katspix

As far as plans for the 2010 season expect to see Team Insanity at the USPL/NPPL and PSP. They want to do Huntington Beach, Phoenix and as many events in each series as possible.
