D-Day Unit: 1 CAN PARA, 6th Airborne Division, Commonwealth Expeditionary Forces

Rank and Position: Section Leader and Destroyer of German tanks

Commish enlisted with 1 CAN PARA and the CEF for Oklahoma D-Day 2008, thinking that this would be his “once in a lifetime” pilgrimage to the world’s largest scenario event. He was hooked. He returned to D-Day in 2009 with 1 CAN PARA, and also joined his 1 CAN PARA team mates for Wasaga Beach Black Reign 2009, and EMR Fall Castle Conquest in 2009. 2010 will be mark his third trip to Oklahoma D-Day with the “maroon goons” of 1 CAN PARA and the CEF.

Why 1 CAN PARA and the CEF? According to Commish, “the Commonwealth, particularly 1 CAN PARA, not only welcomed me to the team but went out of their way my first year to ensure I was able to make the trip”. His enthusiasm evident, the energetic tank hunter told us, “Before joining this team I rarely left the confines of my city, and when I did it was never for paintball. Three years later, here I am, on the largest international team in the world traveling all over North-America. We’re popular for our integrity and sportsmanship, our maroon shirts and CONEXs – but this team is much more then that for its veteran players.”

“Going into my first D-Day event in 2008 (like most players) I figured this would be my one time vacation and that I would opt to try a new field the next year. Before even arriving, while driving down with one of my best friends in the CEF, Drew Larsh, there’s was this strange feeling I would be coming back. I not only attended, but loved both the event and the CEF so much I committed to putting as much time and effort into it as humanly possible. I look forward to many things at the 2010 event, but most of all I’m anxious to see the look on all the new faces when we hit the field as arguably the most recognizable force in today’s scenario paintball.”

A talented, fast-moving player, Commish found his calling when he first picked up a PIAT anti-tank weapon and set out to try his hand at tackling the tanks of the mighty 21st Panzer Division. In his first year he wracked up three kills, and assisted in several more. Now, with D-Days under his belt, he is an accomplished tank hunter, who devotes much of his time and energy to training and developing new anti-tank teams for the CEF. When not dreaming up new and creative ways to send German tanks to the dead box, Commish can usually be found in the 1 CAN PARA Dining Facility, a common kitchen he founded that provides meals to the 65 members of 1 CAN PARA over the course of D-Day week (Commish is currently studying at one of the most prestigious culinary institutes in the world).
