Catshack Sponsored Team “Da Reservoir Dogs” wins Most Valuable Team and shares their AAR
Sweetheart Massacre – Picasso Lake – Feb 21, 2010
Well this was our first official game of the season so I pretty much wanted to get in on the action as much as possible. I took a few pictures at this game but promise to take more at other games/events we attend. This after game report will be short!
Game Storyline:
February 13, 1929 – Chicago, Illinois. Two gangs during this time, the South Side Italians led by Al Capone and the North Side Irish led by Bugs Moran are in a power struggle for control over the criminal underworld of this area.
This is the day before what is known as the Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre. On the morning of Thursday, February 14, 1929, St. Valentine’s Day, five members of the Bugs Moran gang, Reinhardt H. Schwimmer and John May were lined up against the rear inside wall of the garage of the SMC Cartage Company (2122 North Clark Street) in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago’s North Side. They were then shot and killed. It was believed to be possibly by members of Al Capone’s gang or by “outside talent” (gangsters from outside the city who would not be known to their victims). It most likely was a combination of both.
Game Time:
Many players came out to help Al Capone, played by Preamo of the Top Gun Knights, carry out his plan to rid Chicago of the North Side Irish, while others joined forces with Bugs Moran, played by Giambi, against the South Side Italians to see if they can change history of that dark Thursday, February 14, 1929 morning. All while trying to work with or against the crooked police of Chicago, played by the XIII Legionnaires.
This was our first time playing at Picasso Lake. One thing for sure, the field is huge! It was a “U” shape field layout. If you’re going to play on this field, be prepared for a workout and to take the “baton walk of death”. My advice to you…..don’t get shot out!
The 2 sides (white being the Irish and blue being the Italians) started at opposite sides of the lake and had to hurry to get the best position possible so missions can be done. Of course with all the snow on the ground (about 6 inches or so), most player were fatigued by the time they got to the action….I know I was! The first action of the game was at the top….at the “U” and pretty much was a stall-mate for a good half an hour or so, I would say. Paint was flying everywhere. I personally got hit about 3 times due to being over aggressive, and had to take “the walk”, while the rest of the team was holding it down by the hill near the water side.
From what I heard, by lunch break, we (the Irish side) were down on points. It looked like history would repeat itself. After the break, the 2 sides switched sides. Again, there was heavy battle and little movement from each side but some missions were still able to be completed. This game was definitely going to be decided at the final battle.
Final Battle:
Okay, final battle came and it was insane. A player by the name of Anthony Wong from the TTT’s ended up winning the MVP award with his epic “superman/barrel roll/faceplant” move to assure that the final flag went green. Once we saw that flag was turned to our favor, we went into “defense mode” and made sure the other team was no where to be found near that flag. Because of him, the Irish side came from behind and won the game. History was re-written.
MVP – Anothony Wong of the TTT’s
MVT – the Reservoir Dogs
Quick review: (my personal opinion)
- Paint was great (no exaggeration) – I had no breaks
- The refs were on point with every call!
- I would have to give this field another try….with no snow on the ground.
- Last but not least, can’t forget the Meatball Hero’s that were sold there…Yumm!
It was great playing alongside everyone who showed up.
See you guys/girls soon!
