Saturday Morning came early and as the sun rose, the snow started to fall on the field as members of the Yankee Division arrived at Fox 4 in Upton, MA. The Ice Station Zebra big game was all set to take place.
We were all very thankful that the tent was standing and a big thanks goes to NomWho, Chromo, Nippsy, Teabag, Lax, for setting it up earlier in the week and then performing “Tent Watch” to ensure it was still standing by Saturday. More smiles were seen as Beerman entered the tent with a mean-looking propane heater! Let their be heat (and no fire)…
The US General asked if one of us wanted to XO, and Vector graciously accepted – a big thanks goes to Paul for doing an amazing job, which was recognized by the General with MVP.
After the 9:30 safety briefing the RED and BLUE sides went onto the field to battle it out for the fallen satellite. The games was close all day long, and both sides did not want to give any ground. Many battles were fought to a standstill, partly due to the great efforts of the YD members and their new X7 Phenoms and the lack of vegetation on the field. You could see for many meters ahead of you.
By the end of the day, the RED team was ahead by 50 points and it would come down to the final battle to decide the overall winner for the day. But, before the battle could begin, raffles were drawn and MVTs and MVPs were announced.
For the US Side, the general announced that the Yankee Division had won MVT!! We were all shocked and very happy to hear this news. It would not been possible without the General’s excellent leadership, Vector’s skill and support, and the BLUE players. Everyone played an amazing game.
Onto the final battle – it was 30 minutes of paint throwing and I think most YD can agree, it was the time, that most “battle wounds” were received. In the end, the BLUE side had 3 of the 4 flags up and won the battle and the game.
A great game and day were had by all.
Thanks to Woody for the great burgers and hot dogs.
Beerman for the heater
Everyone for a great day of paintball action.
