When it comes to lubrication of your markers orings many people will just use whatever, without a second thought. I have used many different types of lubrication over the years, from back in the day when all you had to do was add a few drops of oil in your markers air source adapter before airing up to the many versions of Dow33 that are on the market today.
Recently while perusing Ebay’s paintball section I came across a vat of Monkey Poo. Hearing about this in the past and having some Ebay Bucks to spend I ended up ordering a 1.2 oz tub of this, got it for .77 cents so it was just too good of a deal to pass up. Oringmonkey Monkey Poo is specially formulated for spool valve markers and is supposed to help prevent bolt stick and also help relive first shot dropoff (FSDO) that spoolies are famous for.
This stuff is made from a mixture of complex hydrocarbons and additional ingredients to stabilize the consistency, making this stuff uber slick. It stays right on the bolt and comes in a banana scent. Yes, I said it smells like bananas. So my first initial opinion is that this stuff has a slick, smooth feel that you just do not get with Dow33 based lubricants. So I wiped off the old lube on my G3 and my Dangerous Power Rev-i to see what performance increase, if any, was gained. Testing did confirm that the FSDO lessened but I saw no difference over the chronograph. With both markers being well into the break in stages the lube was a welcome addition and applied to the bolt orings, back cap orings and internal body orings.
The scent is a nice addition and a great marketing tool along with the product name. Makes me kind of giggle when I say the name, my inner child I guess. I would recommend this lube to others over Dow33 or Dow55 based lubes that I have tried, but I will not mention. The smooth texture of the lube is sure to keep things slick inside of your marker and the 1.2oz container will last you quite a while even if you own multiple markers like I do. A little of this stuff goes a long, long way.
