From his home in Spokane, Washington, a very excited Mr. Shawn “Knight Owl” McNary and his business partner Rambo Robinson burned up the phone lines to share a rather huge and very special undertaking with the Catshack Reports Paintball News

The Spokane Paintball Club (or SPC for short) provided the means and the equipment. With the assistance of several area paintball teams in the Spokane WA area they all came together and  just scored a huge victory for paintball! Several volunteer paintball teams stepped forward to assist the SPC with introducing the Boy Scouts of America to paintball in a very big way… and Tippmann Sports LLC was there to help make it all happen!

The recent event in question was the Northwest Jamboree held at the Spokane Fairgrounds that saw upwards of 4000 Scouts in attendance. Several area Scenario and Speedball teams came together to introduce area youth to paintball. Shawn, a big advocate for safety, further mentioned how the some 25 staff all told not only showed the kids all about paintball but also mingled in the line ups discussing safety and answering any questions the kids had.

The teams set up an interesting “Tin Can Alley” style shooting range for the Scouts to use to test their shooting abilities. Shawn is ecstatic at the huge response from not only the Scouts but the Boy Scout organization as a whole. The groups have not only been asked to take part in further Jamborees but also to create an additional “Shooting Range” at one of the Scout camps. Knight Owl is currently in discussions with the area Scout Council about the possibility of the creation of a Scout Paintball Safety Merit Badge.

The volunteers that assisted with the day were from such teams as Shenanigans, Team Domino Effect, The Spokane Shadow Knights, Team Infidel, Team Iliggys, Team Black Eagles and One Crazy Renegade. This was the first time the Boy Scouts of America allowed their Scouts access to anything paintball related ever.  3000 scouts tried paintball and these teams alongside Tippmann Sports LLC  helped make it all happen.  The Scouts loved it so much that they anxiously hollered at the staff every time volunteers stepped away from the booth.  Prestigious area team “The Spokane Shadow Knights” further brought along 3 JCS Rocket Launchers which added greatly in generating real interest in all things paintball.  At the end of the day Tippmann even donated a Carver One to giveaway to one very lucky Boy Scout.

Great job and HUGE Props to these teams in Washington State … and an interesting idea and lesson for the rest of us to consider and perhaps pursue as a means of showing youth across North America all about paintball in a safe and responsible manner.
