While we usually only make two trips to EMR, we added a third this year as Western Wars was made a fund raiser for the families of fallen firefighters and police officers. This made this an event we just could not miss. Great field, great players and a great cause.
This years event was a unique blend of Scenario and Big Game. Missions, Flag
Stations, and a large field all made for some great play. The Game started on Saturday at Noon then stopped at 6 for “special events” in the evening, that included Card Games, B Pong, Hot Dog Eating Contest, one on one shootouts, night play and horseshoes, all for game points. This made for an very interesting evening and kept folks interested in the game. Sunday am came very early for everyone as the teams swapped insertion points. Sunday was also a day of hard fought firefights, land gained and lost and players having a great day. In the end Vipers team spanked those of us on Shields team.
Special thanks goes out to the Staff and players at EMR, this is always one of the best places we play each year, and this time was no different
Since the Western War event was raising money for a great cause, we added our prize package into the mix at EMR. As always, we give away the complete package to a single winner. Congratulation Mike! The winner for Western Wars is shown below.

Every time that we go to EMR, a loud voice can be heard keeping everyone informed of what is going on during the setup of the games. That same voice can be heard during the games as she works an insertion point and makes sure that all us happy go lucky players keep ourselves safe. Finally she ends the day by being the Master of Ceremonies for the prize giveaway. Anyone who has been to EMR knows we are speaking of Mitch. Even from our first even trips to EMR, Mitch has always treated us like old friends. (Of course we are now all old friends). When we get up on stage to give our prize package away, we always have fun as we play off of Mitch’s great sense of humor. If its not her making fun of Coolkids inability to speak into the mic properly, or Coolkid calling her a “Professional”, she is always keeping things fun. Since we have had so much fun with Mitch the team voted to make Mitch one of our own, to invite her to be part of the Maltese Militia. We presented her with a team jersey and our thanks for making our times at EMR better than ever.
We are please to welcome home our traveling member who is just home from a deployment to Iraq. We are not sure when he will get a chance to come on out and play, but we are happy just to have him home safe. Thanks to you and to all the Solders, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who are deployed across the world. May they also come home safe and sound.
