Water Wars

The future is bleak for mankind. War has torn the planet apart and resources have become viciously scarce. Massive war engines lay abandoned across the numerous crater scarred battlefields, useless and empty without any fuel or ammunition to run them. Cities and towns pockmark the ruined landscape, the people clinging to the last vestiges of usable soil, untouched by the tyrannical shadow of the warlords and soldiers. Countries have been shattered by the conflict with only two major superpowers remaining, their resourcefulness keeping each alive.

Controlling the southern and eastern wastes, the stalwart and powerful Mechanes Combine remain, their domination of the world’s resources almost absolute. Clinging to the old ways and using powerful acidic armor piercing rounds, their time is swiftly coming to an end. Their forces patrol the wastes in the last remaining fuel driven vehicles, their iron grip on all resources required for waging war keeping their opponents on their knees. Their scientists constantly make steps forward in making what best they can of the remaining resources, but they hesitate to tell their leaders the truth they all know…that the Combine has very little left, and when it comes to light, those very enemies they’ve scared into submission will break upon them like a vengeful tide.

Those enemies have taken the form of the Aquatic Alliance. A rogue force of scientists turned soldiers, they are the remnants of the scientists who chose not to align themselves with the Combine, the others lost to execution squads and assassins. Through clever infiltration and innovative technology, they’ve found a way to utilize the last seemingly impossible to use resource. The most vast and untapped resource they have; water. Due to the continued conflict, the temperature on the planet has skyrocketed, turning most of the world into deserts and melting the polar ice caps, flooding the lower lands and vast swaths of ocean.

The Aquatic Alliance have invented a new rounds, using the power of the ocean into powerful kinetic rounds, capable of piercing the armor of even the strongest Combine foot soldier. The rounds are almost ready, with the first batch of experimental ammunition being issued to the Aquatic elite assault teams being deployed along the western borders into Combine territory. However a spy in their midst has tipped their hand, and the Combine plans to respond in turn with as much of their resources as they can spare. While the Alliance moves into place to strike a fatal blow to the already weakened Combine, the Mechanes plan a counter attack to seize the experimental rounds from the assault teams and capture the Aquatic development team in order to steal the technology and turn the tide against the dangerous rebels.
