The annual Redneck Festival at Adrenaline Paintball in Melbourne ON was another caliber event the Catshack Reports can easily add to our top ten listing of events for 2011. The Redneck theme saw players pitted against each other as either the “Rednecks” led by General Sarge Morin of Team Weazel vs “The World” led by Adam Nelson of Team OpFor. Other area teams in attendance through the weekend included Aces Wild, Veens Irregulars and The Northern Gunmen
As mentioned on the Catshack Facebook Page, one thing you can always count on at an Adrenaline event is great food, great people and a well run game. This year the game officials were provided by The A Team Assassins as well as Adrenaline staff. The game itself ran like clockwork with players getting their fill of lots of paintball over the weekend long event. Another aspect of the Redneck event are the sheer number of activities over and above the scenario game itself which included a live band, a turkey shoot with the winner handed a crisp $100 bill, a mud belly flop contest and Redneck water skiing. Last but not least some of the attendees brought out Quad 4×4′s to run through a very deep mud pit. As shown in our video production, The Catshack Reports editor once again set aside the cameras to run the mud pit on one of the Quads, needless to say I am still digging mud out of some of my belongings, dirty but TONS of fun.
Also on site was paintball product distributor, Underground Productz, vending paintball goods and showcasing the latest and greatest from the world of paintball product. Some players had opportunity via Underground to test out the brand new Valken VMax Loader … see the Catshack writeup on the Valken VMax!
As Saturday drew to a close, the Rednecks were ahead by a mere 250 points in the scoring, however as the weekend ended and the dust settled The World team had in fact pulled it together to win the game. Speaking with Chris “Bubs” Praught, Team Captain for Ace’s Wild he mentioned “the weekend was a really solid well run event with skilled competition on both sides, it was great fun!”
Adrenaline Paintball does represent a significant field investment, another little something The Catshack uses to gauge a quality field. In this case, Adrenaline boasts a small castle, a town with towers, a fire truck, SWAT vehicle and even a boat and that is aside from numerous bunkers and trenches. Part of the field is thick bush which does provide plenty of cover for any team attacking from that section of the venue. From a photographer perspective as it pertained to the Saturday battle for supremacy, it seemed most if not all of the conflict took place in the town area of the field. At mid day teams swapped sides and the turmoil continued with neither side seeming to gain total field control entirely.
Worthy of mention are the concession staff who promptly and efficiently moved people through the lineup for both lunch and dinner and insured all in attendance were well taken care of with food, drink and all the other necessities.
Overall an awesome event and a paintball field well worth visiting as a great place to play some paintball.
Special thanks to field owner Greg Muscott and the staff at Adrenaline Paintball for their hospitality, Sarge Morin of Team Weazel and Jon Miller of BlackSheepGear for his creation of a new cat pattern headband for the Catshack Reports.
