“6th Annual Vietnam Summer Big Game “The Green Berets” at Flag Raiders Outdoor Paintball Park. This day long Big Game once again took players on a historic journey back to the steamy jungle outposts, snake infested rivers and insanity of Vietnam.
The Green Berets based loosely on the 1968 movie of the same name, began as Col. Josh “Zuby†Kirby picked two teams of crack Green Berets for a mission in South Vietnam. First off was to build and control a camp that was trying to be taken by the enemy the second mission was to kidnap North Vietnamese General Ho Zee Minh and the rest is paintball history” excerpt from FlagRaiders Facebook page.
01000 hours … American General Zuby Kirby hands down difficult orders. American Special Forces “Green Berets” are assigned to be dropped behind enemy lines via helicopter in a very hostile Viet Cong controlled region. Undoubtedly a very tough battle that will see heavy American casualties, the General and staff have hammered out estimated losses and deemed the mission a go. This Vietnam War based theme big game saw almost 200 players clash almost immediately in a mock battle for field control and supremacy.
A few different field features became hotly contested areas during the day, as always the church as well as the ridge bordering the Tac Town and American Base of Operations as the VC drove the Americans from key strategic areas of the field. Cries of “medic” were common place as the two sides battled. The Viet Cong dug in deep and while casualties were much the same as the Americans, the VC took control of the real estate and kept it that way throughout.
As the dust settled, General Ho Zee Min of the North Vietnamese Army achieved victory thwarting the Americans efforts … this time ….
- American Casualties – 379
- Viet Cong Casualties – 367
Territory
- American – 25
- Viet Cong – 53
Total Scores
- American Forces – 2879
- Viet Cong – 5667
Overall yet another great day of paintball to add to the history books as The Catshack Reports continues on our quest through 2012 to experience and film the best paintball on the planet. Once again plenty of period costumes only added to the realism of the event as seen in some of our photos below.
It was at the end of the day at approximately 3pm that mother nature stepped in with some torrential rain to interrupt the event. The rain was short lived and the game only suffered a 30 minute delay. Incidentally, Flag Raiders is graciously allowing anyone with a “Green Beret” game badge a free walk on to the field on account of the rain interruption.
