The biggest ever Worlds Female Championship
As a member of all-girls team Valkyries we always had to play against male teams. And that not always was successful. So when we participated in Ladys Cup in Bitburg in 2011 for the first time we understood how fantastic it is to play against girls teams. That is how the idea of Arena Moscow Girls Cup appeared. Women always participated in male dominated sports, boxing, power lifting, football so what? These kinds of sports don’t forbid girls to participate, they just need to be divided by gender. I think there are about 30-40 girls teams in the world more or less regularly training and playing. That is more than enough for World cup, isn’t it? In 2012 we had 10 teams. Next year we hope to host from 14 to 20 teams from ALL parts of the planet.
Paintball is booming in Russia at the moment and there are several reasons for that. First of all the success of Russian players in different world tournaments. That makes young players dream of the same and they train harder and harder. Second thing, investments. When enthusiastic people can afford to invest in what they are fond of that makes magic things! Every year we have more and more tournaments across the country, new teams appear, new kids teams and paintball schools start working. New indoor and outdoor fields are being constructed.
Every May, Moscow holds the biggest scenario game “Big Paintball Maneuvers’” that gathers more than 3000 people in one day. Winter indoor tournaments gather up to 70 teams. From 15 to 20 Russian teams go to every event of Millennium series, several teams will go to World Cup in Orlando.
Arena Moscow Girls Cup 2013 has invited teams from Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Scandinavian countries, France, UK, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, Iran, USA and Latin America. We hope to host between 14 to 20 teams.
The tournament will take place in Moscow in the beginning of March (8-10 of March). AMGC 2013 will be held in the new indoor field of Arena Palace – which is the world biggest indoor paintball club. Just imagine a full size Millennium field, 6 pit zones, spacious room for team allocation, spectators seats on the second level for a better view, a full blown cafe and a changing room for every team complete with showers inside and other amenities that makes playing paintball a comfortable thing!
There will be 1 division. Race-to-3 format. Preliminaries will be held on the 8th of March, finals on the 9th of March. Besides paintball, the girls will have opportunity to participate in a Welcome Dinner featuring traditional Russian cuisine, Players Party with awarding ceremony, dancing and entertainment and of course an excursion program around Moscow. The tournament will be widely covered by mass media: stream video, photographers from Hybrid Foto and HEADSHOT Paintball and Life magazine and many others, articles and interviews will be sent to many paper and online sources in Russia and around the world. Planet Eclipse, HK Moscow, Celtic, Anthrax have already confirmed their sponsorship for Arena Moscow Girls Cup 2013! We invite all paintball and non-paintball companies to support the event!
I hope female sports will grow and become strong. It’s a very interesting field for sponsors and advertisers so I hope they will start making investments and that will help a lot for both female teams and tournament organizers. When you don’t have hundreds of teams eager to participate you can’t expect profits from the event. That is why sponsors supports is so important.
Arena Moscow Girls Cup 2013 is going to be the biggest female paintball event in the world. Seems it will look like a Female World Cup (by the way..why not?). So it will be the best opportunity to see the real level of YOUR female team, to see other girls playing, to meet old and find new friends. At the end, you will have unforgettable 4 days in Moscow!
