Another fantastic Sunday in the books! September 30th, The Creed played at Xtreme Paintball in East Windsor, CT. The event was called, “Zombies the Scenario.” It was to be played with 5 parts with missions ranging from 30-45 minutes. Close to 80 were in attendance. A number of walk-ons and individual players were divided among the two teams: Humans and Zombies. At the top of the humans team was Jonathan (Me) Staaz with XO Norm Vernadakis (both of The Creed). The Zombies were led out of the grave by Joe “Snipes” Tetreault (XPB Fallen Angels) and his 2nd in command, Michael Ruggieri (Silent Nightmare). The ranks were filled with members of The Creed, XPB Fallen Angels, Silent Nightmare, Xtreme Shenanigans, CT SAS, Steeel Reserve, Brute Force, R3hab and Psycho Soldiers.
The first mission of the day was a defend mission. Humans had 30 minutes to prevent the zombies from entering, Pump Town. It was a tough battle. There wasn’t much space but the Humans were able to keep the Zombies from collecting their bounty within the walls. Mission 2 required the Humans to obtain 3 cards, at the half way mark, in the woods. The Humans were quick to collect the first 2 cards. The third card proved a bit more difficult. This final card was inside “Pump Town,†on a pole that offered very little cover to get to. At one point the Humans had 6-8 players in a small area, ready to assault and take the card. As fate would have it the Zombies had a gun in there and that single player was able to wipe out the entire squad! Well, that meant the Humans had to start again. Humans eventually got the card.
Mission 3 was another defend game. The Humans had to defend in “The Cemetery” and prevent the Zombies from getting a flag inside a structure in the rear. It was a valiant effort but the guns of the Humans were able to disrupt all offensive efforts. Going into the 4th mission the Humans were ahead in points. The Zombies needed to win the remaining games to win the day. The staff at Xtreme determined that we should advance to the Spools game to ensure it was played. The Spools is the unofficial “best” game at Xtreme. It was a flag turning game. Who ever had their flag up at the end of the match would be the winner of this round. If the Humans won, game over. If the Zombies won, the game would carry on to the last mission, to be played in the woods, for all the marbles. This game would be a half hour game with immediate reinsertion for the first 25 minutes then reinsertion closes.
It was a vicious fight. The Humans flag (Red) went down first. It remained that way for about 20 minutes. The Zombies flag (blue) went down with about 10 minutes left to play. Both teams managed to get their own flags back up before the final horn. In a last, desperate effort, several Zombies stacked up on the Human flag station and tried to crank it back down. They all fell from the onslaught of .68 caliber trained on them. To make things even more awesome, thunder clapped and rain poured. In the end, we, the humans, held the undead off and finished the game with a stalemate. Because no points were earned for either side the game came to a close and this would be the final battle.
Following the game there was a product toss. Michael Ruggieri (Silent Nightmare) from Warzone paintball, RI supplied pods filled with goodies, pod packs, free passes and more. Awards were presented and Joe “Snipes” Tetreault and Michael Ruggieri ran a gauntlet in celebration of Mr. Snipes birthday. I would like to thank Jarrod and Estelle of Xtreme Paintball for a fabulous day. You never disappoint. And to all the players with and against me, thank you for a spectacular day in the woods. Joe “Snipes” Tetreault, you are a worthy adversary and I look forward to playing with or against you anytime!
