Kool Kat’s 2011
Sorry polls are officially closed
![]() I would like to nominate my significant other, Brandon “Mooch†Blouin. There is nothing this man doesn’t do for paintball. The nickname “Mooch†was given to him when he first started playing paintball about 11 years ago because he would try to mooch off his friends for paint just so he could keep playing. Now he gives back to the paintball world by working at the local field, Hotshots Paintball, as the head referee and gun tech. On top of that, he dedicates a great amount of his time into coaching his young guns team, the Buster Squad. This team was formed from a past summer training camp that he runs annually. Not only is he trying to encourage and teach the next generation of ballers, but next month he is starting the “Adult Baller’s League†to help teach and bring back interest to the adults of paintball. He is always thinking of ways to help save paintball because it hurts him more than anything to see it die out. When funds permit, he plans to open and run his own field. His dream is to be able to travel the world and teach paintball to anyone who is willing to learn. Brandon “Mooch†Blouin has helped me among many others to learn and love the sport of paintball, which is why he is the Koolest Kat I know. Nominated by Traci Hayes. |
![]() Robert Higginbotham is one person I know who does all he can to better the sport of paintball. One story that best sums this up happened at a local field a couple months ago. A bunch of new players (all around 10 years-old) were out at the field and were having some trouble playing with the rest of us. Between games, Robert volunteered to let one of them use his Ego, and had the whole group to play against him for a short game on a speedball field. You wouldn’t think this was such a huge deal, but Robert played without a marker. Robert ended up getting shot a lot during the game, and the young kids were a little more comfortable playing for the rest of the day. Robert is a student at Virginia Tech, and is active with the paintball club and the Virginia Tech Woodsball Team. He frequently lets new players play with his backup guns, will loan them paint or do whatever he can to help new players get more comfortable with playing the sport of paintball. |
![]() I would like to nominate Travis Kropf. He has been a great part of the sport for many years he has put together Woodstock Defiance (winning back to back RXL and MXL titles) based off his training regime and guidance. He is the captain of Cambridge Raiders and a NAX Allstar almost every year. Aside from what he himself does in paintball for paintball he is a coach mentor and friend. he is always there for guidance just to chat and paintball knowledge he is the coach for ALL of raiders camp and gives up his entire weekend almost every week to coach the 5-6 Raiders CXBL teams (50+ individuals) as well as running his TKO three man tournament. he gives up his free time to push this sport as far forward as he can take it. he will never turn someone away from the sport and always treats it with the utmost dignity and respect it deserves. he is an ambassador of paintball and he deserves to win this contest Nominated by Jacob Singleton |
![]() Lumpus aka Henry Fleming manager at Wayne’s World. Henry has been there since he turned 10 when he said hey Dad Happy Fathers day we’re going paintballing. although I have been playing since 1985 I stopped after Henry was born but he still got an eye full of my time as a paintballer. Henry started playing at 10 yrs old and since then he has loved the sport with a passion, he has went from player to ref to tournament player playing countless world cups to manager and head ref at Wayne’s World all in 15 yrs. I have seen him give up his equipment to players that had markers down to giving up his spot in World Cup so a newbie could play. Henry is a giving person and promotes the sport of paintball with every breath he takes. words can’t really describe what all he does for the sport, and the players, and for Wayne’s World, you were there when Wayne’s asked the crowd who was the back bone of Wayne’s and the crowd yelled LUMPUS. in closing it wouldn’t put it past Lumpus to give away most if not all of the prizes if he wins to some young man with the gleam of paintball in his eye |
Here is a lady that is a real player and advocate of the sport of Paintball. Her name Devon Taylor she is 19 years old plays down at Threerivers paintball park and she does things for the sport like when she see a young presective player she goes to the parents and ask them if she can take them out onto the field. it is something that had happen while I was at Threerivers paintball park Devon had seen my daughter and ask if she could take her out just for a bit my wife and I look at each other and agree with her after she had explained to us that she does this alot to get the little ones in our sport involved. I talk with her about it and found out from her Boyfriend that she is doing this all the time she loves when a new young player is out on the field with her teaching them the basics of Paintball. I got some great shots of the two of them together while I was there. Devon Taylor is at W.V. U. studing to become a teacher. From what I seen she is going to be great at it. she is a real good teacher of upcoming paintball players and continues to keep the spirit of paintball. She is a very Kool-Kat and I think that she come in very close I don’t do justice to what she has done for the sport and continues to do and she is a great player on the field already she has switch from a electronic to a Pump and rocks it very well which is versatile in my book and dangerous all at the same time. Devon has my vote for the Kool-Kat for sure. I want to say Thank You to Devon Taylor and hope for all the best in the sport and her career o teaching she is going to a force no matter what she does. Nominated by Thomas Heemer

![]() I want to nominate my older brother Ben Errington for the Kool Kat contest. My name is Isaac, and I’m his little brother. Attached is a few photos of Ben hard at work cleaning bunkers and getting the field ready, and one of just him. Ben Errington is just 16 years old, but has had a job since 12 years old to pay for his paintball ventures. When he was 14 he went all out and bought a used set of airball bunkers to try and set up a field. Now, 16, he has an airball field for the local kids to use, free of charge, with air and paint on site at our house. We host walk on days that draw up to 30-40 people coming to play. He refs for the day, and routinely techs guns for the players, all the while giving them his own set up to use until theirs is fixed. He teaches safety to the newer players and makes sure everyone is playing safely and having fun on the field at all times. He’s sacrificed tons of hard work and time to set this field up and he works his very hardest to try and keep up the field. The age of the bunkers is starting to show, and holes are popping up. Some so big they won’t even hold air, so he hand stuffed every bunker with such holes, with straw to keep them in use. Off the field he does his best to help too, giving all kinds of advice to players from the newest to the experienced, about anything and everything. All In all I think he works extremely hard to keep the experiences of new players good, and keep the older players coming back. He is my paintball hero. Nominated by Isaac Errington |
![]() I think that Kevin Quinn should win the Kool Kat Contest. He is a very dedicated paintball player who runs a local podcast. The podcast is very high quality and seems to be directed at a wide array of paintball enthusiasts. He has several sponsors, including Tippmann, Full Clip USA and Hammerhead. He tries to bring the sport to new people and has a wide ranging audience. His dedication to the sport has benefited many paintball players and has brought new members to the game. |
![]() My team captain Drew Nelson is a huge figure in paintball for me, and the Alberta community. Last year this man sword by his DM10 and would not even look at something what wasn’t dye. However some of us managed to get him shooting a pump gun; He fell in love with it and ended up selling both of his dm10 setups for pump guns. Now he has created Alberta, Canada’s first pump only scenario/speedball team. He also is creating a Alberta wide pump league, hosting tournaments and walk on days for pumper’s alike. And that is why I chose to nominate, my friend and team captain Drew Nelson. Nominated by Craig Mould |
![]() I’d like to nominate my son, Jordan. I think my son contributes a lot to the furtherance of paintball. For the many years he has been playing and I take him out to the fields and buy him his guns. After years of him using the guns he sells the guns for practically nothing “just” to new players that want to get into the game but not enough money to start out. When new kids get into the game those paintball guns are very pricey, he makes sure they have the same experience when he started out for the first time. We are not a rich family so we don’t do huge things and throw money but what he does helps a lot. He gets kids as young as 8-14 into playing when they are scared to play. He makes them feel less frighten to play by playing with them on the same team and all that. The younger kids make up the future of paintball and he does a lot to get the younger generation into it by doing what he does. Nominated by James Spawn |
![]() I am nominating my friend Chris Crowder. I have just recently began to play paintball, and the only reason I am such an avid player is because of him. When I first started out I had a lot of trouble finding games or people to play with(nobody likes the rookie). Then i met Chris. He played with me all the time, introduced me to other players, helped me become a better player, and helped me grow a love of the sport. right now he has to travel 4 hours to get to a field and he still does it all the time. I think he is one Kool Kat! |

My name is Rusty Shackleford and I throw 110% of my 250lbs of support behind Kevin Quinn. He’s a stand up bro… Let me tell you a little bit about Kevin Quinn…
He’s a ten-foot tall beast man, who showers in vodka, and feeds his baby shrimp scampi.
He orchestrated the merger between UNICEF and Smith and Wesson.
Kevin Quinn was in a production of The King and I… Well anyway, before the show, Kevin chloroforms the entire cast, and slowly eats them in front of the audience for two hours. The production got pretty good reviews.
One time I asked Kevin to dress up as Santa for a Christmas party I was having for my children. Anyway, Kevin shows up as Santa, says I’ve got goodies for you kids. He reaches into his bag and proceeds to hand out scrap metal and cigarettes to them. Then he takes off his beard and says There’s no Santa cause I ate him!
He showers in grain alcohol.
He uses the Shroud of Turin as a gold towel.
He killed Wolfman Jack with a trident.
He drives an ice cream truck covered in human skulls.
He makes every woman that sleeps with him refer to him as Bear Bryant.
He once ate the Bible while water skiing.
He once had sex with a cigarette machine.
Anyways… Kevin Quinn is a sonuvabitch. Vote for him.
Rusty Shackleford? We have your tombstone at Operation Milsim!
Here’s my vote for Kevin “Kevlar” Quinn…
To add to Rusty Shackleford’s list:
* Kevin’s hits cyclists with his car for imaginary points – I think he might have issues.
VOTE FOR KEVIN!!!
Maria Warnick
Just simple…I vote for Kevin “Kevlar” Quinn….nuff said!!!
Just curious why I have to revote on this? Was was Kevin Quinn removed from the poll then re-added in the first place?
The poll was posted incorrectly … it had to be removed and reset
@Tomcat- Imma call BS.
Vote Kevin Quinn!!
They didn’t want Kevin to win so they reset the poll & are redoing it hoping he doesn’t win this time
For what it is worth The Catshack Reports Paintball News is quite impartial … we had to reset the poll as not all of the candidates with entries were properly included in the original poll … seeing as we cannot simply add the name, it had to be reset … we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and may the best Kool Kat of 2011 determined by your votes win the title
Voting for Henry Fleming, even if he doesn’t win, he is still a Kool Kat in my books!
Please vote for Henry Fleming he is probly one of the best cousins that i have and i hope he wins this Vote for him please
Kevin quinn, nuff said!
Anyone from south western Ontario should know who Travis Kropf is and if you dont then you truely are missing out on knowing one of the most stand up guys in Canadian paintball. Travis you got my vote buddy.
Brandon Blouin dedicates his life to playing, teaching, and saving paintball. It would be awesome to see him win this, because he truly deserves it.
I voted for Henry Fleming, he really supports Paintball, and Safety. He helps anyone that ask as much as he can, and spends alot of time helping the sport of paintball. Henry also donates lots of time and money for different charities thru Paintball events. Henry is a stand up guy that really deserves this.
VOTE for Kevin! I know my 51 member team will! We will take it slow though, we don’t want the polls being reset again because Quinn is going into “Beast Mode!” (Sorry for the Brewers reference in there).
, I think that this should go to someone that is taking young players out teaching them the value and the how to starting them earlier that sportmanship is a good thing and honor for the sport, Devon has even giving up her marker at times to help get the youngest players started on the field. to me that goes far beyond a podcast. that is what it means to be.I.E. Devon Taylor is a great choice and will vote for her. by far she is better than a Podcast,
Vote for Kevin! I have been playing paintball with and against Kevin for the past couple of years now and he is just one cool down to earth dudes I have ever played with.
Thomas no need to knock other contestants. I have met and played against Devon (PA UWL to be exact) and she is a great baller so nothing against her. But have you even listened to said podcast you are knocking? Did you also make mention the free pass to D-Day he gave out to a player that has never attended? Or the other free Swag he give out on a regular basis? His podcast was the focal point of what got him nominated but clearly 400+ people wouldn’t be voting for him if thats all it was. So with that I am happy I am one of his 400 some votes cuz Honey Badger Said So!
sorry Whiskey G , the start of that should say this.
I am not knocking the podcast. I have listen to it and it is great thing.
my wireless keyboard batteries were dying did not realize it till I went to correct hit the wrong button.
Please put your vote towards Kevin Quinn. Why? I help run “Hope Paintball” a non-for profit paintball field in Springfield, IL. Our field is on the grounds of Hope Church, and we had a the honor of having Kevin out at our field. Kevin was so excited about all the new people we were introducing to the sport, he made it a point to help us put on one of the most successful events we’ve ever had. We still have kids talking about all the product Kevin was able to bring out and share with kids who were just starting to gain interest into the sport. I’ve seen those same kids come out to our field on a regular basis since then, and I have no doubt Kevin played a large part in their passion for paintball. Kevin also gives us a great opportunity each year to come on his show and talk about our unique field. Kevin is a great ambassador of the sport and the sport will only flourish with people like Kevin involved. Thanks!
Some of you have asked for my..”endorsement”. I wish I could but please honor the fact I am trying to stay neutral..!and Not FAVOR anyone. Best of Luck to you all Thanks!!
Kevin Quinn, he’s our man, if he can’t shoot it, no one can!!!! WOOHOO! Vote Kevin Quinn!!!
I vote for Kevin Quinn…….Jim Diehl “Gathering Of Eagles”
Brandon Blouin plans on doing giveaways with most of the prizes on his facebook page: The Paint Life. Please vote for him, he does a lot for paintball, and having that little bit of recognition would mean a lot!
Kevin Kevlar Quinn runs WARZONE PODCAST. He intends to give away all prizes on his show. His podcast is solely devoted to the sport of paintball and its players. I know this is a tight race. I hope Kevin wins.
I vote for KEVIN
So this Traci that has been so vocal about Brandon is also the same Traci that won Miss Catshack?
congrats Kevin. keep the podcast going see you out on the field sometime.
