wpbulogo1Today might very well be an historical occasion worth celebrating in the paintball community.

World Paintball Union founders James Boulter and Tom Cunningham held their first preliminary meeting with Canadian government officials this morning in an effort to see paintball more officially recognized by government in a number of innovative ways.

At 9:30 this morning both James and Tom stepped into the offices of MP Mr. Phil McColeman in the company of MPP Dave Levac to hold the first in a series of meetings designed to further paintball in the country. Both men presented a number of ideas to the government in furtherance of this effort. Such ideas as examining paintball for the tourism dollars it generates annually, the charitable work done by many annually and last but not least the idea of speedball as the most marketable side of the game as far as open promotions to the communities and other government officials alike.

“I am ecstatic at the positive reception we received to the concepts brought forward to both politicians”, says James Boulter. In short the members representing Brant Riding were extremely interested in the idea of tourism and charity. “It was in fact MPP Dave Levac that further lent his knowledge and expertise in all things government to mention additional ideas that have real potential”, says Tom Cunningham. During the meeting Mr. Levac came up with a few ideas including providing the contact information and knowledge as far as government funding available to assist fields and field owners…that’s right it exists. Furthermore both politicians discussed introductions of paintball to local YMCA’s as another possibility. In a stunning cutting edge idea also brought forth by Dave Levac…the idea of manufacturers introducing GPS security chips into each and every paintball marker with applications that could resolve a fair number of problems including theft and misuse by deviant individuals.DSC_4706

As the first of more meetings to come…it is with some confidence that today Wednesday July 15th could become a historical day for paintball across Canada. Unfortunately Dan Sperry currently residing in North Jersey was unavailable to make such a long journey but his efforts in the brainstorming sessions leading up to the meeting should be fully recognized both James and Tom agree.

Join the World Paintball Union today and join the 1400 brothers and sisters worldwide and stand behind the cause dedicated to positives in all things paintball.
