The Arsenal Predators mantra is “Practice, Practice, Practice!” To do so is to come as close as you can you to perfection. Stopping in to talk about his team is owner Gary Simpson, knowledgeable in the game and coaching a winning team is what he does.
The team formed back in 2003 as a ten man team, they played the ten man format through the 2003 and 2004 seasons and then transitioned to the seven man style of play for 2005. With limited success in that aspect of the sport they further evolved their playing style to five man Xball in 2006. They started winning more and showed great gains in results by finishing Division 2 in second place for the year.
In 2007 they went back to the seven man format and adjusted their line up having mixed results. Jump another year to 2008 and they were picked up by the DC Arsenal Organization, at the time the organization had a Pro, two semi pro and division 1 teams. The Predators were to be the division 2 addition to a successful franchise. They finished 5th overall in series points in 2008 with three 3rd place finishes. Unfortunately during the off season they lost 5 members but they did bring in some new blood for the start of the 2009 season. Starting the current season with a win at the first USPL event in Huntington Beach, California. The team followed that up with a 3rd place finish at the second event at SC Village. The Predators reside in 1st in division 2 as I write this.
The team became a part of the Arsenal organization through hard work and determination. They already had a sold base and success in their playing endeavors when Tom Fore, owner of Arsenal, saw the value in the team. Wanting to cover all of the divisions and seeing the opportunity to make a farm team for the pro boys he thus added the Predators to the fold. One of the ways Tom helps is by bringing your team into the Arsenal family or offering assistance when he can. Being brought into the organization is no easy task, you have to be a solid team, have a solid roster for a year or more, compete at a very high level and represent the sport of paintball in a positive light. For the Predators it is a badge of honor to be able to use the name ARSENAL as part of their team name.
The team has competed in 34 national events since 2003 and over 30 local and regional events since their founding.
