Another team from the Pennsylvania area has stopped by the CatShack to talk paintball. Team Hand of Fate operates in Western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. As a team they strive to encourage woodsball sportsmanship and to promote the safe practices of paintball. Teamwork and camaraderie are much more important than self accomplishment to these guys. Going out of their way to help outfit new players and accompany them as they try out this great sport is a way of life for this team.
Based out of Erie, Pa the team was formed in late 2007 when brothers Dan and Rick Girt got the motivation to start a team and begin the process of gathering the efforts of local recreational ballers, setting up a cohesive unit. This originated after countless times of trying to get together a pick up game and only having a few people show up to actually play. Dan and Rick started recruiting using the team name in early 2008. Not long after Pentagon Paintball agreed to become the home field for Hand of Fate early the same year.  After playing multiple events with team NEOSMUT from Cleveland Ohio the teams was offered a sponsorship with MilSim Products as well.
This year seemed to be a trial and error process and they gained and lost several members while establishing a regular practice schedule, running drills and agreeing on what the team goals should be. While this season is still ongoing the team has grown in numbers vastly as compared to the previous year. The officers have grown from two to four and the operational members from six to fifteen members respectively. Using the other teams in the area for guidance and an example the team has adopted tactics that has encompassed the team into a sleek unit able to move from mission to mission.
Past events played:
Michigan Monster Game: 2008, 2009
Synergy Paintball D-Day Event: 2008, 2009
Battlefront Paintball, Toys for Tots: 2007, 2008
Battlefront Paintball, Band of Brothers: 2008
Battlefront Paintball, World at War: 2007, 2008
This is one of those teams that live on the notion that you should play fair, honest and help those who are new to the sport. A great philosophy  that should be adopted by more teams. To check out or contact hand of Fate check out the links below.
