Awards UKOne thing I find absolutely fascinating about Scenario paintball such as it exists in the UK has to be their  “Scenario Awards”. The awards ceremony takes place annually and encompasses teams and individuals across England,  Scotland and Wales.  Now what is particularly interesting is that the UK teams and fields go all out and make this a very serious real black tie affair. The event itself is very posh and attendees often arrive in limousines and enjoy a top notch dinner while waiting to accept their various awards … according to sources speaking to The Catshack Reports, that is where the formalities end as everyone goes on to have a genuine blast for the evening.

It is my understanding that the awards process is more or less UK awardconducted through online voting for each of the categories below. The inter team and inter field co operation in the UK is what lends to making all of this possible. I also understand that last years event even had a live video feed of the ceremony available for viewing on the internet, now how cool is that!

Here are further details of the UK Scenario Awards as follows as collected from the source at UKScenario.com :

The Event

The annual UK Scenario paintball awards are now in their 6th year, and the event continues to grow at a pace. The format will remain very similar to previous years.

It is a Black Tie / Ball Gown event, and partners are more than welcome (and in fact encouraged). While we are there to make awards and generally celebrate paintball we do try to keep it very light as this is more of a social event and we don’t want to annoy the non-paintballers who come.

There will be a 3 course dinner with wine supplied this year, followed by the awards and a disco. The evening will kick of at 7pm and run until the early hours.

Full details of nominating and voting for the categories will be up in due course, but remember that you are able to vote for the various games right after they have happened for 2 weeks. (see separate announcements on this)

The Venue

After several years in a similar location, this year the awards are packing their bags and heading south.

They will be held at The Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton on Saturday 28/11/09. The hotel is right on the sea front and in a central location for those who wish to venture into and see the sights of Brighton City, The Lanes & The Pier (in fact it’s opposite the old burned down pier). The hotel itself offers several bars and catering options for those who stay, as well has UK dinnerleisure facilities and a health spa for various treatments in you want to pamper yourself or a loved one. Brighton is a vibrant city with plenty to do both by day and night time, so it was thought that people could make a longer weekend of it if they wanted.

The hotel will be offering us a good rate on a room for the night and we are negotiating a 2 night deal as well if anyone wants to make a weekend of it. This could be ideal for those traveling further or want a little break before Xmas hits. Full details and rates will be posted shortly. The hotel will be holding rooms for us and we should have access to our own POG (personal online group) for you to book your room direct with the hotel at the set rate, so no mix-ups with room rates that have happened in previous years. Please don’t contact the hotel direct yet until this POG has been set up, and then you should be able to do everything online.

Now wouldn’t it be something very cool to have something such as this right here in North America!… I guess this is a Catshack issued challenge to the teams here right on up through to industry. The Catshack Reports would like to see some of the players and teams out there receive this kind of recognition in the way of a medal or trophy for exemplary game play and behavior which in turn lends to the positive promotion of paintball.

In my personal travels here and across the internet I know many such teams and individuals exist and are deserving of  it!
