Welcome Brandon Short of the LA Ironmen to The Catshack Reports. In this interview Brandon shares some of the teams shortfalls throughout their competition season as well as some interesting insights and opinions.
The 2009 season with the Ironmen had its ups and downs. Last season we played 10 events together, this year since we didn’t play the NPPL/USPL so we only played 4 tournament dates total. We took 2nd at the PSP Phoenix, 1st in North Carolina, 8th in Chicago, and 4th at World Cup. The highlight of the year was winning in North Carolina, but it was disappointing that we didn’t get to play together as much.
I believe since we didn’t play as much together this season, we lost a little bit of that team chemistry that it takes to win. In my opinion we needed to practice a lot more then we did for the last event. Just on the fact that we could of spent more time together.
Every year DYE comes out with it’s new gun and this year it’s the NT. The NT is an awesome gun. Everybody knows DYE puts on the best equipment and this year was no different.
As far as the introduction of .50 Caliber, I know for a fact that something needs to change in paintball to help it grow and reach the masses. I’m not sure if .50 cal paintballs are the answer, but it seems like it’s worth a shot. At this point I’m willing to try anything to get paintball back to where it used to be. However, I don’t believe .50 cal will work in the traditional Xball format that is played in the PSP. A new format should evolve with the new paintball.
For 2010 I’m going to be returning to the European tournament scene, which is a big deal for me because I missed it last year. I’m going to travel a lot more and keep doing what I’m doing.
It’s funny because sometimes paintball looks as if it’s dying and then other times it seems as if we have reached new heights. It just depends on how you look at it. I still know that paintball has so much potential and it hasn’t even come close to reaching it!
My website is my way of reaching out to the paintball world and sharing my
views and life as a professional paintball player. I don’t really want anything from my website besides being able to help the sport of paintball. My ultimate goal for the site would be to have tons of people logging into it every day to see what Brandon Short is up to!
I would love to thank my sponsors DYE and Pbfashion. Without them I wouldn’t be able to live my dream!
