The Raiders Cup Winter Series held at Flag Raiders Paintball in Kitchener Ontario, Canada wasn’t always the Raiders Cup. The indoor location opened in 2006 and it was in 2007 that the original tournament series then known as the GT Winter Tournament was created.
It wasn’t until the following year in 2008 that the “Raiders Cup” became the official tournament series now held at Flag Raiders on an annual basis. The Raiders Cup is now widely known by regional speedball enthusiasts as a great tournament series with some pretty awesome cash prizes and definitely an event to compete in.
The Catshack Reports joined two of our Young Guns teams which are graduates
of the Young Guns bi weekly program held at Flagswipe Paintball in London Ontario. I have to admit this writer was like something of a proud father watching the boys grow in skill from week to week to reach this level and enter their very first competition today.
On the morning of November 22nd, the day began like all events do…paintballers crowded the Pro shop to submit their registrations and get their players cards, paint and other necessities. Following the Team Captains meeting, the competition began as each team stepped onto the field to fight ferociously for the win. Two Divisions squared off today with the Rookie Division which saw Defiance SDK, Facial Fiesta, Hooligans, Semper Fi and the CBC Elite teams battle it out. The Young Guns Division saw Codrington Chaos, Lethal Militia, Trigger Addiction, Defiant, London Blitz and London Rush sling mad paint at each other.
Another interesting facet of today’s event involved a live broadcast from a booth on site which streamed live video feed along with event sportscasters to www.raiderscup.com. It is my understanding one can re visit the site to check
out the action in its entirety as it was recorded for on demand viewing.
As the event carried on the finals for the Rookie Division saw Facial Fiesta, Defiance SDK, Hooligans and Semper Fi have at it, vying for that first place spot. Congratulations Defiance SDK on their first place victory with a close second to Semper Fi, Facial Fiesta third and Hooligans in fourth place overall.
For the Young Guns Division, Codrington Chaos, Lethal Militia, Defiant and London Blitz faced off for their final placement. Congratulations Defiant on their first place victory with Codrington Chaos coming in second, Lethal Militia third and London Blitz in fourth place overall.
This was the very first installment of “Raiders Cup Winter Series” … The Catshack looks forward to the other event dates set for January 24th, February 28th and March 28 in 2010. Once again much thanks to Flag Raiders staff and the owners who as usual were gracious hosts to The Catshack Reports and for that matter to all those in attendance.
For this and lots of other fun paintball activities check out Flag Raiders in Kitchener with two pro shops, one indoor location as well as an outdoor location serving all our paintball needs in this region of Ontario for many years now.
