Having bore witness to one of the most exciting finishes to a tournament this year was a fantastic experience. Clear skies but chilly temps ranging from -2 Degrees Celsius to perhaps 3 Degrees Celsius was certainly no deterrent for 6 hungry teams who descended on Flagswipe Paintball all of whom had their eye on that 1st Place trophy and the grand prize overall.
Sunday December 6th, 2009 – Following the Captains meeting, the teams fully geared hit the paintball field with a vengeance. Covering this event was not an easy task as paintballs flew through the air in steady streams and this reporter was often sent scrambling to get out of the firing lanes.
The Catshack Reports did what we could to capture this epic finish to a great series on both digital image and video as a permanent record to a great day. Teams in attendance included last years 2008 Champions The Eh Team Militia, DMZ Devil Dogs, Guerrilla Grenades, OpFor, and both Carnivore Steak and Carnivore Bacon.
Each team guaranteed three preliminary rounds a piece slugged it out and as the
lunch break hit the leaders emerged. By half time all three of the Niagara region teams were leading in points scores with the Eh Team out to seize the day in the forefront with the DMZ DevilDogs and The Guerrilla Grenades hot on their heels.
At the end of the day The Eh Team got to the finals with a 3-0 record leaving the Guerrilla Grenades and The DMZ DevilDogs duking it out to determine who would face the Eh Team for 1st Place and at the same time determining who got third. That match pitted the two teams together in a vicious 20 minute battle with The DMZ DevilDogs emerging victorious.
The final battle of the day finally arrived and both the Eh Team Militia and The DevilDogs gave it their all. Emerging victorious by only a 2 point margin (a great indication of what kind of battle this was) were last years 2008 Champs The Eh Team Militia with the DMZ DevilDogs taking second place.
The Eh Team Militia won as the grand prize an all expense paid trip to EMR for the Castle Conquest game in April 2010.
Congratulations to all the participants throughout the 2009 season of The Canadian Tactical Series.. it was a real pleasure attending all of the events as part of our continued coverage of all things paintball
