Only recently The Catshack Reports showcased 2009 LAPCO products in its entirety over a three day period. Today we are very pleased to write a review article on some of the products as introduced to the paintball masses previously on our site. To begin with, first and foremost I think it needs to be stated how Catshack Reports product reviews work. Simply put if a product is sent along to The Catshack Reports to review and we find problems with said product, it simply will not appear on the site period. If we are contacted to review products that we feel have existing issues, again we decline the request. Yes we have had some product which following testing and examination could not and was not published here. Thus we are able to guarantee to the paintball community that products shown here, at least in our opinion, are worthy of consideration.
That having been said The Catshack Reports recently received three barrels which are among the first of its kind. The LAPCO barrels in question are the 16″ LAPCO STR8 Shot First Strike Ready products specific to Tiberius. Two of the 16″ barrels have different bore sizes at .690 and .686 allowing a user to select the appropriate barrel for a particular purpose. The final barrel is the 9″ Str8 Shot” First Strike Ready for the Tiberius. That having been said in each case purchasing a LAPCO barrel or for that matter LAPCO products period really is a one shot deal meaning that these products are of good solid design and made of a very durable metal. When I say “one shot deal” I mean that you need not worry about returns due to breaking or faulty parts or accessories so replacing anything LAPCO is unnecessary. Made in the USA there is a reason why LAPCO has been in business since 1987 as their products are quality made and are likely to last a lifetime. This point is not only stated by myself but also by paintball wholesale distributors and retailers that I have personally spoken with who echo my sentiments exactly. Each and every LAPCO barrel are excellent with respect to design, accuracy and durability making LAPCO among the best in barrel and barrel design.
Another of the products we reviewed would be a replacement bottom line
adapter which allows an operator to remove the existing stock part and replace it with this unit that will now allow for a tank or remote line to be fit directly onto the marker itself. The existing part while made of a durable plastic simply doesn’t compare to the very solid all metal LAPCO bottom line adapter. Again, install this piece of hardware and never worry about your adapter ever again.
Speaking with a Tiberius sponsored team member brings me to yet another great LAPCO product up for discussion. Existing Tac 8 and Tac 9 Paintball Pistols have a quick release mechanism to release the clip and exchange it for another. Again while made of a very durable plastic the Tiberius quick release can, over time, eventually wear out. LAPCO has created an all metal quick release which once installed is good forever.
Last but not least LAPCO sent along a couple of their slide check valves…one in a
flat black matte finish and the other made of brass. In both cases the valves are metal and engineered for great performance. In the case of the brass valve, no worries about rust or similar deterioration as happens to metal, not that it is much of an issue with LAPCO products anyways.
Special thanks to Elisa Sheets who has assumed the role of marketing director for LAPCO. With Elisa at the helm, we foresee tons of the great LAPCO products released throughout 2009 and upcoming products finding their way into the spotlight for the paintball community to see and be more aware of. Consider these aftermarket parts and accessories to be well worth purchasing to add to your paintball repertoire. Like anything else, you get what you pay for, so pay for LAPCO and rest assured its dollars well spent.
Following info supplied by LAPCO
For the 16″ in First Strike Ready barrels:
We are advising people who want to switch between regular paint and First Strike Paint in the same playing session, utilize the .686 barrel, as it slows the First Strike rounds down enough so that the Regular paint is up closer to full speed when trying to make adjustments at the chrono.
If someone is looking to play with First Strike paint only, we advise that they buy the .690 bore size so that they can get max speed and efficiency out of the First Strike Rounds. Because, in order the chrono the First Strike rounds, their regular paint will be slower than average.
These issues above aren’t applicable for the 9 inch pistol length barrel.
Future Lapco products:
We will be releasing a barrel for the 8.1 and the 9.1 soon.
We will also be updating the design of the Tiberius Bottom Line adapter and releasing a version for the First Strike Magazine.
No release date yet for either item.
