The Maltese Militia Paintball Team took a moment to share their team newsletter aptly called “Splatter” with The Catshack Reports. The newsletter is informative and very well done, kudos to the team news editor for putting together an interesting publication as follows.

Captain’s Corner — Wintertime Safety Check
Wintertime is typically “down time” for the players. This is a great time to take an afternoon and go through all your equipment. Make sure that all your gear is clean and ready for action. This includes making sure that you perform any maintenance that would or should be done to markers, safety gear, clothing or any other items that you use for playing paintball.
Here are some items that you will need to check; this is not a all encompassing list, but it should get you started in the correct direction.
1) Goggles: clean and repair any damage that you can. If you haven’t replaced your lens lately, now is the time. Read your paperwork that comes with the goggles to see how often you need to replace the lens. Also, anytime that you take a close in, direct hit to the lens, it really should be changed.
2) Marker: make sure that all the parts have been PM’d (preventative maintenance) Follow the Manufactures instructions as provided. If this is above your skill level send it out. Better yet, find someone who knows what to do and have them teach you. This also a very good time to check all the screws, nuts and bolts to make sure they are tight. Finally lubricate all parts as suggested by the manufacturer.
3) Misc.Gear: Go through all the other items that you use to play paintball. Check your clothing for rips or tears, or complete worn out spots. Clean and repair as needed. Same thing for gloves, vest, pod packs, the pods themselves. Anything that you use in the playing of paintball needs to be checked, cleaned and then put away ready for the next time you play.
4) Batteries: Make sure that you did not leave any batteries in anything. It is cheap insurance to remove the batteries and store them in such a way that they cannot damage your equipment if they leak or corrode. This would also be a good time to recharge all your rechargeable batteries and make sure they will take a full charge.
The last thing you want to have happen is to finally have the opportunity to play and have your gear down for lack of maintenance.
Militia and VIO join forces
The Maltese Militia is well
known for its helmet cam videos of multiple events. Our players have a great time providing the video and uploading it to our web page as well as You Tube. This year we have invested in new technology to assist us in getting the best quality and quantity of video that we can. We know that other players enjoy our videos, and we wanted to give them the best show that we can.
After several months of research and reading multiple reviews of the many helmet cameras out there we have purchased one of the VIO POV 1.5 helmet cam systems. This is a fully self-contained system that is made for rugged outdoor uses. It is even waterproof down to 30 feet.
We are also part of the VIO affiliate program. If you follow the links from our home page to the VIO page and purchase anything, we get a small commission. So, if your interested in helmet cameras and are in the market, stop by the Maltese Militia web page and follow the link to VIO. This will help you and help us.
