Hometown: London, Ontario, Canada
Callsign: GOD
Rank and Position: Section Leader, organizer of personnel, and keeper of traditions
Team: 1 CAN PARA
D-Day Unit: 1 CAN PARA, 6th Airborne Division, Commonwealth Expeditionary Forces

John first took to the field with 1 CAN PARA in 2006 at Tactik Paintball (http://www.tactikpaintball.com) in Ottawa, for the OP MEDUSA scenario game designed and produced by 1 CAN PARA. John immediately clicked with the team, and the next year found himself headed to Oklahoma D-Day as part of 1 6th D-DayCAN PARA and the CEF. A fierce competitor on the field, John also is a major force off the field, and plays a key role in helping to recruit, train, and support the 85 members of the 1 CAN PARA scenario team. Since that first game in 2006, John has attended three D-Days (2007, 2008, 2009), as well as several major scenario games including OP MARKET GARDEN (2007), Ortona (2008) and Wasaga Beach Black Reign (2009) wearing the maroon and gold of 1 CAN PARA and the CEF .

Why 1 CAN PARA and the CEF? “To simply put it, represent Canadian paintball and to be in the thickest firefights. Even though the CEF and 1 CAN PARA consisted of players from around the world, US, Europe, Australia and Canada, I wanted to highlight a Canadian unit. In books and movies, the focus is on US and German Units. This was an opportunity to show the world that there were great Canadian units fighting in WWII and I wanted Canadian players to fill that role. Compared to other units at D-Day, we’re a fairly small unit but growing each year. You can find us in major firefights. If there isn’t one, we’ll find one and that’s what I love about being a member of 1 CAN PARA and the CEF.”

A hard-charging, no-nonsense player, John has a well-deserved reputation for getting the job done. Look for this one wherever the fighting is most fierce, inspiring his team mates by his example. Known not only for his quiet proficiency, boundless energy, and quick thinking, John is first and foremost a sportsman. How you win, and how you represent yourself and your team are critically important to John, and he works tirelessly to remind his team mates of the primary importance of sportsmanship, respect for a competitor, and good conduct. Now in his fourth year with 1 CAN PARA, John has become a pillar of the team, and an excellent ambassador for Canada and Canadian paintball.
