dynastyWelcome Mr Johnny Perchak of San Diego Dynasty. Johnny has an impressive and lengthy history in the game and recently did an impressive interview with Make It Pro opening the door for paintball into mainstream sports media….very cool!

Enjoy our Q&A interview with Johnny as follows;

521When and where was your first paintball experience?…could you please give us a few details?

Mare Island it was 38 degrees with a VM68 shooting out more co2 than paintballs

Over the years what would be some of the most memorable moments in paintball and what if any are some of the other teams you have played for?

My first pro win was actually World Cup and back then it was 10 man and there was only one league, the NPPL. That was a pretty big deal. Winning the PSP World Cup and series title with the Ironmen 2 years ago as my first year back from retirement meant a lot to me as well.

Over the years San Diego Dynasty has easily become one of the greatest most well known teams, what is it like to serve as a member of this team?

Starting and building with the other guys probably the best paintball team of all time has been a hell of a ride that’s for sure.

What would be a typical practice 522regimen for Dynasty and what are some of the expectations of its membership? Do you have a diet/exercise program for paintball?

For the most part we try and set up practice to scrimmage another pro team on the field layout for the next event. We tend to have two practices before each event. On Saturdays after were done playing, Davey Williamson puts us through a plyometric workout to help get us faster and in better shape for the season.

Overall and in your opinion how did Dynasty fare in 2009?

Not as well as we should have that’s for sure. Winning one event a year just isn’t enough for us. We were right there in the hunt at almost every event this year but could only manage to crack the top spot once.

Whats on the books for you and Dynasty for 2010? …changes in the roster? which events can we expect to see Dynasty at this year? Where has been your favorite place to play thus far?

Well this year we have a new gun sponsor, Planet Eclipse. We will be shooting a Dynasty edition EGO and GEO. With the retirement of long time Dynasty great Angel Fragoza, we have added 2 great players to our roster. Glenn Takemoto previously from Infamous and Chad George from All Americans. Two great players that are going to help us retake that top spot.

Well, a lot of the people really didn’t know much about paintball at all so I was mostly just trying to enlighten everyone about the equipment and the sport in general and try to get as many new players as possible.

If giving advice to a brand new team or individual on what it takes to rise to the professional level of paintball, what might that be?

Practice practice practice. You’re not going to be the best over night so do not plan to be. Paintball is supposed to be played for fun so do not expect that every company out there needs to sponsor you.

Thanks Johnny!, we welcome you as another member of The Catshack Reports Hall of Fame in honor of your service and dedication to the sport of paintball!
