team logo (4)Welcome the Joyceville Juveniles speedball team to The Catshack Reports. Another great team dedicated to constantly improving their skills to compete as a well oiled paintball machine.

The Juveniles first came together in the fall of 2007. Locally, receiving guidance from Marc Beaudin, I had purchased a franchise in the new rookie division for the following season in the Canadian Xtreme Paintball League (CXBL). A couple small teams of friends made the decision to merge together to fulfill their dreams in the sport of paintball. We all wanted to get better, we all wanted to play as much as we could, and we all changed our lifestyles to make it happen.

E1 at the A We practice at Ground Zero Paintball in the summer, and had practiced at Pro Advantage indoor during the winter. Over the team’s existence, we have come to call both of these fields our “home” and are always welcomed with smiling faces. Joyceville generally has at least two mandatory practices and an event per month. While a majority of the players play weekly just to get out and ball.

Given the field designs before the competitions, one of the priorities at practices is to learn the layouts and create multiple breakouts and strategies. Familiarizing yourself with different angles and shots around the field and educating yourself with what the opposing team might do. All the while, running various drills to improve and keep everyone’s skills up to par. We try and arrange with another team to scrim before the events, benefiting us to be the most prepared.

The Juveniles have participated in a wide variety of tourneys, ranging from indoor winter leagues to summer tournaments just for fun. However, the team’s main focus is the RXL division in the CXBL. We always seem to fare on the top half of the pack. Joyceville has been in first ranking for parts of the previous two seasons but has always seemed to end up with Bronze. This year, third times a charm, right?

I’m sure if you asked any player, they all would have their own personal defining moment. A certain win over a team that was a close game, a certain play that worked flawlessly, or a certain shot that was just amazing. Our team has always been working with local players, building a strong competitive team with the drive to the top. Highlights for a paintball team are when accomplishments happen that make all the hard work, sweat, and dedication pay off. Joyceville is chalking up their fingers and climbing for the crown of RXL champs 2010, a highlight that their existence has been working for and will not forget.

The Juveniles have started the new year off with a bang. Joining into the Kingston family of teams, we are working with the dynamics and structure, hoping more organization will help them pursue their goals. This off season, we are competing in the IWPL (infinite winter paintball league) to have full xball matches once a month. This will give the team time to work out any bugs and get a leg up on other teams this spring. The Juvies are also drilling once a month and occasionally scrimmaging other teams. The guys have been playing together for awhile, they are focused, determined, and they want to prove that they belong in the MXL division (novice division above them).
