To be tactical you need to be cunning, stealthy at times and be made of a certain metal not everyone can stack up too. To be able to work with a team as a cohesive unit and use these tactics takes even more skill and understanding of the sport than many have the time to learn, then to compete in a running league and be successful is asking a lot…
Recently I had the opportunity to speak with Hercules Papadogiannis who is the President and founder of the TTPL (Tactical Ten Paintball League http://tacten.com/paintball/) about this league.
For those that do not know can you tell us what the TTPL is?
I’d love to. The TTPL is the first ever tactical league/tournament created. Its not your every day weekend wood style of play. Its a full mixture of all style combined into one making for everyone. It has your speedball style, it has your tactical style. It has your scenario and roll playing as well. Its a fast pace game with paint in your face action with a CQB SWAT house along with missions to be completed. All the action to be completed with in 15 minutes.
When and why did the TTPL form?
The TTPL was in creation from back in 2004 but founded in October of 2006. I founded the league for many reasons. One was it was the type of style I couldn’t find in any event I or the team attended. It was also the type of style other teams, and player where talking about hoping to find. It was also a great marketing tool for giving back to our sponsors for their support towards us over the years. RAP4 being the 1st in line of our sponsors that deserved it. They were and still our very supportive towards us with being also one of the first ever scenario/tactical team that has ever been fully sponsored. That is correct even if people and players may disagree with that, but when you have sponsors paying your every way in paintball then that’s a full sponsorship. We needed to find a way to give back and to support all our sponsors as sponsorship is a 2 way street. The TTPL has prov-en just that. The TTPL has been featured in over 35 magazine story’s and in 6 different magazines. All our sponsors are greatly appreciate for our efforts as we will continue to grow this sport of paintball and the TTPL.
What are the future plans for 2010?
We have the 2010 TTPL ready to go. All the full info can be found on www.tacten.com The event will be October 9th and 10th location is On Target Paintball in NJ. We thank John from OTP as he stepped in last minute in the 2009 season when the event was almost called off due to the other location not sutable for play. John and his son Corry and staff along with members from team Wolf Pack stepped in and made an official TTPL with in weeks away from event day. Thanks guys! That shows you that players want and look forward to this style of play. We also got members in Phoenix AZ to come on board. Mindee contacted us on how to become an official field and there doing just that. They build a beautiful TTPL field. Photos can be found on the TTPL official website www.tacten.com They will be going live in 2011 after doing some more trial run events. We hope more fields contact us on how to host a TTPL event. If your not sure what it is, then we invite you to come down and see one. You won’t be dissatisfied. Its as real as it gets!
What companies sponsor the TTPL?
Over the years we have had the following sponsors and growing each year.
Rap4 Animal Paintball Harbor Site Ambush Alpha Save Phace Yukon STC Tiberius Arms Pyro ProductionsUrban Ops
On Target Paintball Field
Pinokio
Scott Goggles
Ammo Energy Shots
Hoo-Ahhs Field Towels
Crown Trophy (Staten Island)
Sport Smoke
Undertakers Paintball Inc.
What does the TTPL offer players that other leagues do not?
CQB by far. The ability to use what ever you have. Meaning think of a real life situation and how you can react towards it. Ability to use SWAT shields, smoke, grenades, landmines, launchers, traps and create your own ideas. Its basically as real as it gets. Great exposure to media coverage and the door opener to sponsorships for all levels of competition.
Any closing statements?
We hope to see more teams and players gain interest in the TTPL. Not sure what it is yet, then we invite you to any event and see for yourself. Even if you don’t have a full 10 man team, you can always go to the website and find teams looking for a player or two. We have a TTPL ref certification class coming up on Feb 21st at On Target Paintball. We invite everyone down. Become a TTPL Ref or just get involved and see how and what its all about. We have current and TTPL teams coming out to help certify the Refs. If you want to join or even if you have other questions you can’t find answers to. Then please contact me at Email: undertakerspaintball@yahoo.com
This league is a must if you are into the woods or scenario competitive side of the game.
