Another edition of the Maltese Militia Paintball Team newsletter hits the Catshack Reports, this crew are going to be very busy this year with an impressive itinerary and some interesting news from their neck of the woods.
Paintball
On March 7th we made a trip out to Hornetsnest Paintball in Ancramdale, NY. A great field with a very nice owner, Bob. He always makes us feel at home when we travel out to see him. While we are definitely not a “speedball” team, we always have a blast playing at the indoor field at Hornetsnest. The field is not overly large, but it is always a blast to play. We were lucky enough to play a few rounds against the “Blackflies” and a few other regulars from Hornetsnest. It was fun to see just how we could do on the speedball field.
Overall we had a good day indoors, but can’t wait to get back out into the woods where we are most comfortable. Thanks again to Bob, the staff at Hornestsnest, and all the other players for a very good time. We make Hornetsnest our winter “home” and have enjoyed it.
New Fields Open in CT
While the economy may seem like it is still in the dumper, two new fields have opened in CT. First is Geko Paintball in Windsor Locks, CT. They took over an old indoor go-cart track and have opened an indoor field with outdoor fields to come.
Second is D&D, also an indoor field, located in East Hartford, CT. located in an industrial building. http://ddindoorpaintball.com
Both are getting great reviews on PBNation. We wish them both good luck. If you are in the area, go out and give them a try. We hope visit them very soon.
2010 Helmet Camera – VIO POV
Once again we are going to be shooting “First Person” action video from all of our major events. In the past we have tried many different camera, all with varying degrees of success.
In 2010 we are using a new system that is completely water-proof and contains a camera, recording device and a screen. The VIO-POV is designed as an action sport camera and is rugged enough to take just about anything that you can throw at it. We have added a special lens protector to make sure the expensive parts are well protected. It also has a built in microphone that will capture all the sounds you need. In order to mount the camera, we devised a simple attachment to the ear tabs on the Events goggles. This allows us to switch who is filming quickly and efficiently. You can see the videos at our web page, and if you follow the link to VIO and purchase a camera, we get a small percentage for the team.
