As previously reported on not altogether long ago, 5 year old boy, Kyus Caines, was struck and killed by a freak lightning strike while on a soccer field. Kyus spent a week in Intensive Care before passing away. A child without opportunity to live life is something The Catshack Reports felt was very worthy to attend with respect to a paintball event held in his memory.

As the Catshack descended on the field to witness the event held at Adrenaline Paintball in Melbourne ON, it was evident that groups and individuals in attendance came not only to enjoy a great day of paintball but to get behind a great effort for charity. Quality game referees were provided by home team “The A Team Assassins” which certainly helped insure the game to be a successful one.

As the day wore on each side of the battle exchanged paint in various parts of the field to control areas and achieve dominance over the other. On numerous occasions embedded war correspondent “Tomcat” found himself in the line of fire on the front lines.  Mingling with the crowds in the staging area, many were already recounting their epic stories of unbelievable feats accomplished on the field which I am sure will be the topic of conversation for many in the weeks to come.

Game organizers Jeff Jewkes, Kyus’s uncle, and field owner Greg Muscott were ecstatic at the response from the paintball community. The first year saw $500 raised for “The Sick Kids Hospital”. This year … (drum roll please) the event achieved a whopping $3591.50. The amount far exceeded the goal of merely doubling last years fundraiser. Well done!
