Another epic game on an epic battlefield, that was Act of Valor in a nutshell. Somewhere in the vicinity of 350 to 400 paintball hounds appeared to get their fill of paintball before the 2012 season ends for good. Fair skies and cool temperatures created the perfect backdrop for this super game.

For me personally this was no ordinary game. It was a momentous occasion as my youngest daughter approached me wanting to give this game I live, eat and breath a try and be a part of my other family for a day. So we geared up and rolled out good and early with Pam both nervous and excited sitting quietly in the passenger seat as we arrived at the field. Looking around at all the people and the men in full tactical gear with intimidating looking markers was enough to have Pam almost immediately tell me she had changed her mind. Firmly I encouraged her to go out on the field just once, if she did not like it then she could sit out in the staging area while the Catshack rolled film.

Thankfully our community is what it is … it wasn’t long at all before many friends were jumping in to meet Pam and give her words of encouragement and help her gear up for her very first experience. At game start Pam with her Dad and cameras close by marched in to the Tac Town, “Saigon” in game terms. We dug in with the Citrus Connection Paintball Team and proceeded to completely shut down any attempts by the Navy Seals to gain a foot hold outside of their base. Several valiant attempts by the Americans to break the lines were systematically thwarted by the Cartel. Yes Pam did manage to snag a couple of eliminations early on and was greatly encouraged.

The situation such as it was lasted easily until mid day with the Seals unable to rally an attack and succeed in gaining ground to complete much needed missions. At this point the Seal team were given an injection of heavy infantry and with the assistance of some air strikes engineered a break through the front lines. Needless to say the Seals fanned out and finally brought the battle to the Rebels, with some heated battles taking place with the Seals in control of the Church and the Strategic Hamlet areas of the field. Unfortunately for the Seals it was to little to late and the battle was lost.

The Catshack spent the day with daughter always hovering nearby but eventually finding her more and more confident she struck out on her own looking for prey. All the way home she raved about the day she had “Dad I felt like a BOSS out there” she laughed recounting all 5 or her eliminations versus being sent off the field twice, not bad for a first timer … mind you she did have a little help from her Dad! Looks like we have another member of our community as Pam will be out more and more with The Catshack Reports always looking for the best paintball games on the planet.
