Doom On You!

Time to meet THE oldest Scenario Paintball team in the world! … The Catshack spoke at length with Doom Trooper “Melo” regarding the existence of his team “Doom Troopers” in the great state of Florida.

In 1986, eighteen paintballers around a campfire needed a name for their team, everyone began yelling out names. Someone yelled out “Doom” another responded “Doom on You!” Yet another yelled “Doom Troopers” and then everyone yelled “Doom Troopers!” The name Doom Troopers was born with fire and their slogan is “Doom on You!!”

Yes the oldest existing team in the world, proven back around 2003-2004 by Jessica Sparks from APG Magazine who did a little research to insure the claim was indeed true.

Catshack: Over the years what would be some of the greatest highlights for the team as a whole?

Melo: Being the oldest existing paintball team in the world and the oldest existing scenario paintball team in the world, what can top that?

Catshack: Where has the team been in 2012?

Melo: Generals Cup at Gator Paintball, Shadow Wars at Old River Paintball to name only a few.

Catshack: Who is all on the team roster?

Melo: Captain: Jason (M-T-Mouse) Hall, husbands & wives, fathers & sons and 40+ part-time and full-time hardcore paintballers.

Catshack: What and where is the team’s home field?

Melo: We have players from all around the state of Florida and Georgia, but the majority of us play at Paintball World and Old River Paintball.

Catshack: Where do you see the team in the future?

Melo: Well, we already have a spin-off speedball team named Orlando Doom that plays in tournaments. What I would like to see is for younger players to leave speedball and meet us in the woods.
