D2H_2966What a strange season as it relates to the weather! High winds and clouds of dust on Saturday and a bit of a monsoon Sunday morning wreaked havoc with the vendor tents and threw a minor monkey wrench into some of the plans, nothing that could not be overcome however. Continue reading »

IMG_6889The time had finally arrived …… NAX the finals 2014, Canada’s premier paintball tournament that is the North American XTreme Paintball League!

The weather came to,  a mini tornado hit on the Friday that did some damage to the field, thankfully and as always PBL and field staff did an amazing job to make sure the event ran seamlessly. Saturday kicked off with pouring rain, seems like the events were cursed this season with adverse weather conditions. Sunday was far kinder and the sun was out for the final games. 9-9-2014-MPF-2In what seems like forever, well probably about 10 months of paintball silence; the newly formed Malaysian Paintball Federation (MPF) had a scheduled meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Royal Malaysia Police on the 9th of September.
Malaysian paintballers showed their support with Facebook statuses with #savemalaysianpaintball and #prayformalaysianpaintball
The outcome came with an official status by the Vice president of the MPF:
“MPF had a good meeting with Minister of KDN, Minister of KBS and IGP.
We managed to gain most of the points for Paintball though we couldn’t win 100%.
Decision by KDN is that all players registered with clubs which then to be registered with MPF must register all the markers with PDRM. This is NOT licensing but just marker registrations as a regulation.
This means that no approval process will be applicable or necessary.
However, KDN is firm that all markers resembling real firearms are ILLEGAL and strictly no registration allowed. Only MPF registered clubs are allowed to register their markers.
The details as to criteria of registration will be discussed between KDN and KBS.
I on behalf of MPF Committee would like to express our thanks to KJ for his unwavering support for us and also, to all the MPF members who placed your trust in us. – TUNKU ALIZAN Vice President of MPF”
(The post is located here)
It’s the best news we’ve heard all year and there are plenty more that needs to be clarified as well as to be officially documented but progress and a bright future can be seen!

1979690_289250187907013_2981089468078048212_nThe Catshack Reports spoke  at length by phone with Angie Rye and company in Michigan. This would be a group working on building paintball at a true grass roots level. In short they appear at big games and at fields and take young children aside to teach them how to use a marker at the earliest beginner level. A positive initiative worthy of mention here on The Catshack Reports Paintball News

Field owner Carl Ethridge (right) presenting the check to the SPCA

Early in the season The Catshack out for a rec day at Crazy Bills Paintball stopped to speak with fellow cat personality Tom Poh as he was teching his paintball marker. Those who know this cat, know how much I like to jab and poke my friends and fellow paintballers. So the smack talk began … “there is only room in this litter box for one of us” I quipped.
